About the event
Forest bathing originated in Japan over 40 years ago and involves spending immersive time in woodland using all five senses to experience a deep sense of relaxation. Termed ‘shinrin-yoku’ in Japan, the literal translation of which is forest bath or forest shower, it is supported by decades of research showing a huge range of positive health benefits. These include both physical and mental, including a reduction in stress, improved mood, better sleep, regulated blood pressure as well as benefits to immune function.
Forest bathing is a particularly mindful type of practice, which builds on shinrin-yoku by including additional yogic techniques such as breathwork and meditation, and allows us to relax and recharge and gain a deep connection with nature.
Liz will guide you through this two and a half-hour session, off the beaten track, in a beautiful woodland area of Harewood. It will begin with a short walk before spending time under the canopy of trees. The session also includes a hot drink and delicious vegan snack, provided by the renowned Harewood Food & Drink Project.
